Day we started Distinctive
We opened our doors at Distinctive in September 2007. Situated in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, Distinctive Chesterfields started out as a small, family-run business. Our entire business runs from our Honley Headquarters, including our Customer Care and Marketing Teams. We now have a team of 12, who handmake each and every item that goes through production.
April 2012
Day we opened our NC showroom
As our business continued to grow, it was time to expand globally. Our Showroom in North Carolina opened in 2012 – a unique destination, High Point is described as the “Home Furnishings Capital of the World!” with annual shows and attractions. Our US Sales Representative, Ruth has been supporting us for over 10 years!
July 2012
Day we sent our first US container
In July 2012, we sent our first container of furniture to the United States. As our global presence continued to expand, there was a continual demand for British-made furniture in the United States. Since opening our US base in 2012, we have sent over 100 containers of furniture to over 12 different States, with New York being the most popular.
July 2015
Day we opened our London flagship
After a successful number of years in Huddersfield, we opened a flagship store in London (SW11), transforming the showroom into a vibrant and exciting space. Situated in Clapham, a popular district for interior lovers, our London flagship is open 7 days a week.

Day we opened our Huddersfield showroom
Championing local design and production, we opened our Huddersfield showroom in January 2017. Our Northern hub, situated in the heart of Huddersfield (just a 10-minute walk from the local train station) showcases our entire collection, with thousands of luxury leathers and fabrics to choose from.
Our Northern customers always like to hear their furniture is locally sourced, and we’re very proud of our Yorkshire roots.
