Summer Style: Add Some Seasonal Cheer to Your Living Room

It’s almost summer, which gives us all an excuse (like we needed one, eh?) to rethink our décor and introduce some new furniture or home accessories to our space. There is, after all, no better time to consider a new colour scheme or a much-coveted piece of furniture than the changing of the seasons.

Of course, you can make small – and inexpensive changes – and here are just a few that we suggest you try before you consider biting the bullet and updating a larger piece in your lounge.

Choose Bold Textiles

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again…the easiest – and cheapest – way to update your living room is by adding a few well-chosen cushions or throws to your space. The good news is that you can redistribute your current home accessories to other rooms in the house when you fancy a change, so you won’t be throwing your money away on textiles and trinkets that don’t stand the test of time.

Try a Lick of Paint

Requiring a little more effort than simply adding a new cushion or two (but only slightly so!) is this tip: add a coat or two of paint to your living room. If your walls are a pale, neutral shade, you’ll find that they’ll be really easy to paint should you fancy a change.

It’s surprising how a brand new and more summery shade will liven up your space – and quickly, too! Consider it this spring and summer and give your home a new lease of life.

What About a Feature Wall?

Feature walls (wall papered in a bold shade, with the surrounding walls painted white or another neutral colour) are hugely popular at the moment. Offering a great and extremely easy way to update your living room for the new season, creating a feature wall by adding a sheet or two of wallpaper is easy and relatively cheap. Have you considered one in your home?

Re-upholster

If you’re a dab hand on the sewing machine and your sofa features cushion covers which can be removed, why not think about repholstering it? It could save you money in the long-run. But hey, have you seen our range…
