2017 Interiors Trends: What to Watch Out For

It could also be a chance to give your space a thorough – and early – spring clean, though. So, what’s making waves in the world of interiors this year? Here are just a few ideas if you’re thinking of redecorating:

Go 80s

Remember the 80s? You either loved it or hated it – but if you’re in the former camp you’ll want to get on board with the trend for decking out your home in bold accessories inspired by the era.

Of course, you’ll have to be clever to get it right; too many clashing prints and colours will hurt your eyes, after all. But we say you’ll have a lot of fun along the way in your quest to ensure your living room looks lovely.

Opt for striking geometric prints and bright textiles (think cobalt or electric blue, orange, or fuschia) – and it’s so easy to get the look. Shop around – both on and off the high street – and pick up some 80s-esque bargains.

Striking Lighting

The best way to update your living room is with a few well-chosen accessories. This can extend to larger pieces like rugs and lighting, of course – and if you want to take on the 80s trend, go for bright-coloured lights with a contemporary edge. Lighting from the era generally offers fairly clean lines. Dome-shaped lampshades were the order of the day too. If you’re not sure quite where to begin, pick up some interiors magazines for some hints, tips and inspiration.

Minimalism Made Modern

Minimalism is a huge trend at the moment, with a minimalistic to life in general being a real talking point. If you’d like to introduce the trend to your own home, don’t go for too many accessories, trinkets and treasures; instead, pick out a few key pieces like vibrant rugs or cushions and have fun during the process.

Mix and match styles, too. You could go for a traditional piece like a chesterfield sofa and pair it with more ‘contemporary’ items.
