Honley Show: How Was it For You?

It was a little on the foggy side over in Huddersfield but our furniture certainly brightened proceedings up, as we descended on a Farnley Tyas field for the Honley Show last Saturday (June 11). Yep, your guess is as good as ours why the ‘Honley Show’ can be found down the road in Farnley but hey ho.

While it certainly wasn’t June weather, it did hold out until around 4.30 and we were thrilled to see so many people turn out to say hello to us at our Distinctive Chesterfields trade stand.

Arriving at the site around 6.30am, we finally finished at 7pm – and it was the ideal opportunity to let people in the area know about the beautifully handcrafted furniture we make here in our Long Lane showroom. Did you see us? Perhaps you took advantage of our exclusive show discount?

Distinctive Chesterfields’ Mark Denby was at the event and said it was a great chance to meet some of our local customers.

“We were very excited about our first Honley show,” says Mark, “The only reservation we had was the weather but luckily it managed to stay dry for the day.

“The primary aim for the day was about raising local awareness for our company; we have offices around the globe (in NYC and Sydney to name but a few) but seem to go unnoticed within the Kirklees area and surrounding areas. I think on that front we were very successful and it really was lovely to meet so many local people at what is a key event on the Huddersfield calendar.”

Our company accountant, Richard, was also at the event, manning the Distinctive Chesterfields stand over the busy lunch time period. He said: “What a great day and the perfect opportunity to showcase our furniture to people in the area. Our Hampton sofa and wing back chairs were the most popular pieces on the day, with plenty of people stopping by to take the weight off their feet. One visitor even had a little sit down to feed his baby son – and we don’t blame him really; our chairs are comfy!”
