Rustic Chic

10th April 2014

Good news for Chesterfield fans in Italy! We’ve recently appointed a franchise partner over in Città di Castello, and he’s in the process of having some of our gorgeous sofas delivered to his Italian base. After a quick phone chat with the man himself – Marco Polo – we discovered that, along with Chesterfield furniture and 50s-inspired pieces, rustic-looking decor is having a moment in and around the European country too.

Shabby Chic

Marco says the rustic, shabby chic look is huge amongst home owners and interior designers over in Italy, each of them desperate for a slice of this country-esque trend in both their own homes and those of their clients. With this in mind, we scoured Pinterest – one of our favourite decor inspiration sites – to pick out some of our top rustic rooms across the internet. And here they are…

Rustic living room

We love this gorgeously spacious living room (pictured above), do you? It reminds us of a ski-style chalet you’d see in the French Alps, perhaps. In fact, it may well be a ski-style chalet. If rustic’s your thing, this room offers more than just a nod to the trend – it’s an all out championing of this cosy decor style which is popular not just here in the UK, but abroad too.

The great thing about making the most of this trend is you can pick up old pieces of furniture, give them a lick of paint or restore them to their former glory, without it costing you a packet.

Blazing Log Fire

The blazing log fire adds instant interest to the room, as do the chesterfield-style chairs. What do you think?

Of course, it’s not the right time of year to be considering transforming your home into a rustic, cosy haven like the one above, but you can certainly combine a few pieces for a fresh, natural look that’s cosy and comfortable all year round.

rustic kitchen

This beautiful kitchen (above) champions the rustic trend perfectly. With gorgeous knick knacks adorning the shelves, and stunning pull-out wooden drawers, complemented by industrial-esque door handles, this is practical yet pleasing to the eye.

We also love how the window frame has been utilised to add kitchen bits and bats, and every inch of space on the counter has been taken up with something lovely and country cottage-inspired.

This beautiful bathroom ticks all the right boxes, too; the perfectly-rolled fluffy towels, the brick-built bath, the wooden walls – they all add up to rustic heaven!
